Sabbath wrested rock away from saccharine producers, naïve hippies, and idealists, and gave it back to the folks that inspired blues music: the lonely, the desperate, the fucked-up, and the hopeless. In the course of their long career (44 years and counting), Black Sabbath altered the sound of music, became a cornerstone for every teenager who didn’t fit in and, in the process, redefined what was possible in rock. Black Sabbath, a band once filleted by rock critics like Lester Bangs and targeted by generations of parents for allegedly ruining their children’s lives, did. The Beach Boys and visionary writer and producer Brian Wilson didn’t do it. I'm not looking to get rich here, just to make it sustainable.Few bands can claim to have invented an entire genre of music. Maybe one day, the channel will be big enough for a sponsor. Please just make sure you are subscribed to my YouTube channel and share the videos. If you don't have $5 for a sticker, I get it and all good. But I want to make more than 2-3 videos a year. I would absolutely make these videos for free. I HATE that I need to ask for anything in return other than sharing the love for Sabbath. Please get I get that all of this is of my own doing. On each $5 purchase, I net about $2.50 per sticker after cost. And what I'm afraid of is taking a huge loss. With the artist fee, printing, envelopes, etc I have around $700 invested. So that tells me that my sticker idea is not a good one, I don't provide $5 of value, or I'm not promoting it enough. To date, only 27 people have bought stickers. But one week in, and TBH it's not doing that great. You're supporting the cause, and you get something special in return. Create some unique art to give something of value to you for your money. So that's what led me to the sticker idea. But I still have a full-time job, so it would be difficult. But what am I going to give to the Patreon supporters monthly to make them feel like they are getting a good value? If I did this full-time, maybe I could crank out some bonus content. Many folks have suggested I start a Patreon account, which sounds like a good idea on the surface. They have the absolute right to do things the way they see best. So my hope in doing this for them in an official capacity isn't hopeful. But Black Sabbath management won't even let me post the link on their official Facebook page. I would love it if Black Sabbath hired me so I could make this content for their social platforms and provide it to all of you for free. I want to create more of these videos but to do that I need to figure out how to monetize it so eventually, I can do it full time. Hopefully, none of this comes across as spammy or me begging for your hard-earned money. If you feel my Black Sabbath videos have given you $5 of entertainment value, would you please consider supporting the project by buying one of my stickers? Good to see my little picture of Morgan studios in the intro- taken in about 1978 on my sister's little Kodak Instamatic it's taken on a life of it's own, appearing on the CADAC mixing desk site, Jethro Tull's site, Howard's book and the soon to be released Led Zeppelin film. I appreciate that I'm being a boring pedant, but it is amazing how quickly inaccurate stuff spreads! Still my favourite Sabbath album, purchased when I was 15- a long time ago. The footage accompanying this section is actually Eddy Offord at Advision studios in London, which has nothing to do with Black sabbath. The documentary claims that the album was mixed in New York, there is no evidence of this in the credits, it was MASTERED originally at Sterling in NY. I'm a real stickler for the history of recording studios, I co-run a site called (currently being re-built) and contributed to Howard Massey's "UK recording studios" book, so I get picky when I see misattributed studio footage! The guy identified as "David Harris" at Morgan studio is actually footage of David Harries, an ex Abbey Road/Apple chap who ended up managing AIR studios. Without trying to be a smart-**** can I offer a few observations.
